The reaction message option can be used for redirecting the users who react with a specific emoji to a separate channel. This can be helpful if you need to gather the people willing to take part in some kind of project or activity in a Slack channel so that they can discuss everything in more detail without interrupting the others.
To create a reaction message, you need to click the ‘+’ button, choose Browse all shortcuts and pick Reaction_Bot from the menu.
After that, choose the Create reaction message option from the next menu.
Then it is necessary to fill in the form shown below.
There you can write the text of your message, choose the channel it needs to be posted to, the emoji reaction, and the channel (or channels) to redirect the users to.
By choosing the corresponding field, you can either select the existing channels or create new ones. It is also possible to add more emoji reactions with different channels to redirect to if it is necessary.
After you click Submit, the bot sends a message to the channel together with the chosen emoji.
As soon as someone reacts to the message with that emoji, they are added into the channel you picked before. There it is possible to discuss all the details of the project or activity and not to interfere with the people who are not involved. If someone removes their reaction from the original message, they are automatically removed from the channel.
It is possible to set up events with several emoji reactions and redirect users to different channels according to their reactions. This can be useful for organizing polls and various events.
To create an event, click the ‘+’ button, choose Browse all shortcuts and pick Reaction_Bot from the menu. After that, choose the Set up event option from the following menu.
After that, it is necessary to fill in the following form.
Here you need to enter the name of the event, its description and pick the time and date for it. You can also choose the end time and date, but it’s optional.
Then choose the emoji reactions and answers they correspond to, for example, yes, maybe or no.
After that, it is possible to select the existing or new channels to redirect people to according to their reactions (optional). You can set the redirect for all the reactions or just for some of them.
After you click Submit, the bot sends a message into the channel, and people who leave a certain reaction are listed near the reaction and can be redirected to the channel specified in the previous form.
Also, there is an option to set up a watcher, which allows to track the messages from a specific sender. This can be a real user or a bot. This option can be useful for bots that share tasks from different applications into a specific channel, for instance, Slackbot, Hubspot, Intercom, or Jira.
To set up a watcher, click the ‘+’ button, choose Browse all shortcuts and pick Reaction_Bot from the menu. After that, choose the Set up watcher option from the following menu.
Later fill in the following form:
Here you need to choose the channel and the user you need to watch - it is possible to choose a real user or a bot.
For better experience with reactions, you can use regex functionality. You can use basic phrase search or complex regex strings and bot will react only for them
Then choose the emoji reaction and the channels to redirect the user to. There is an option to choose one of the existing channels, create new ones, or set a template that allows you to create new channels for each message.
After you set up the watcher, it replies and reacts to the messages from the specified sender.
If a user reacts to the message with the emoji reaction used by the bot, they are redirected to a new channel created with the help of the template.
Homepage and Settings
The Homepage is available only for Admins. On this page, it is possible to access the bot’s settings. There you can see the list of watchers, events, admins, and the channels’ whitelist. Let’s have a closer look at all of these sections.
List of watchers
In this section, you can see the list of the existing watchers set up in your channels. Here it is possible to edit the watchers you have, pause them, set active time and delete the ones you don’t need anymore.
In all list sections, it is possible to send group messages if you want to inform users that put emoji on the channel message regarding some changes or other stuff.
You can also configure watcher's active time, when bot reacts to watcher's messages. If you set both values the same, it means watcher is active always and bot will reacts to watcher's name all time.
You just need to click on the button, write a message text and send it. Only admin can access group messaging.
To see watcher statistics, click the ‘/’ button in the channel, choose Watcher-stats and click enter.
Bot will send a PM with statistics.
List of events
In this section, it is possible to see the list of events, edit them, cancel and delete them, if necessary.
List of admins
Here you can add and delete the bot’s admins.
Channels' whitelist
Generally, the channels created by the bot are archived if they haven’t been used for 30 days. But if you want to keep the channel after this time, you can add it to the whitelist. The channels in this list are not archived after 30 days of not being used.
Plan restrictions
Base product plan allows to setup only 1 watcher. To setup more, click Billing portal button and upgrade your plan that suits your needs.
